CNY Celebration

On Saturday morning, my school organised a CNY celebration. I did not have much expectations of it, but it turned out to be very fun.

There were two hosts of this celebration. The hosts introduced the various games and performances before they started. They always had a witty way of saying things, and they managed to capture our attention.

One of the most interesting games held was called "three-word phrase" (translated from Chinese). In this game, we were supposed to have a conversation in Mandarin. Sounds easy? Well, there was one little condition that all the answers and questions must be three words long. It was actually quite hard to think of suitable three word answers. This game got us laughing at the varied and creative answers being said. Interesting how a simple game can be so engaging.

Of course, there was also the traditional riddle guessing game. The answers were most of the time not very obvious, and one has to have good knowledge of Chinese characters to play this game well. This game had me cracking my head over the challenging and cryptic questions.

Apart from these games, there were also a few performances. One of the more interesting ones was a skit, in which people came on stage and tried to impress a judge through their performances. One of the actors pretended to be a robot, moving in jerky actions. Another sang melodiously to a soundtrack. One of them even played a drum! All of these actors were good in their performances, and they looked well prepared.

Overall, the celebration was a tremendous success, and I was engaged from beginning to the end.
